Software Engineer (Java/Front End)

As a key member of the Hypermotive Software and Controls Team the Software Engineer will be responsible for:
• Leading the development of software for a range on technologies and products relating to electric, fuel-cell and hydrogen powertrain systems, for the next generation of zero-emissions vehicles
• Front-end web app-GUI to interface with back-end software
• Front-end web app GUI for user to control the generation of configuration software outputs
• Writing clean, efficient and maintainable code to industry best practices
• Working with databases (SQL) and data manipulation
• Collaborating with Control/Software engineers working in Python and MATLAB/Simulink to ensure implementation of overall project requirements
• Facilitating knowledge transfer within a small multi-disciplinary software team
• Participating in code reviews and provide constructive feedback
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
• Educated to degree level in software engineering or other relevant discipline is essential
• 5+ years’ experience in relevant role and industry desirable
Skills & Experience Required:
• Front-end developer for building client-side web applications
• Ability to translate customer requirements into a functional and appealing interactive application
• Ideally worked in a product development environment
• Produce quality examples for discussion with customers
• Work with back-end software engineers (operating in MATLAB/Python) to efficiently transpose functionality into front-end environment
• Optimise applications for maximum speed and scalability
• Familiarity with browser testing and debugging, ability to work unsupported with a pragmatic approach to problem solving
• Agile software development processes and management tools such as JIRA
• Experience with Javascript, CSS, HTML
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools
• Good knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure including AWS
